Prune Juice and colon cleansing...?

Is it true prune juice is a more effective way of cleaning out he colon vs buying those suspect products on the internet?

How about this product? It's inexpensive and has Psyllium Husk Powder

Yup, the fact is that the best way to ';cleanse your colon'; is to eat lots of fruits and veggies and drink 1-2 liters of water/day. (Veggies should ideally make up at least 50% of your diet... so every time you fill your plate, pack it half full with veg first.)

Your colon is like a long, windy tube with a bunch of folds in it... fiber acts as a ';scrub brush'; to keep it clean and healthy. The water literally has a flushing quality and keeps all the moist mucous membranes that line the bowel happy and healthy.

Most commercially available ';bowel cleanse'; products have bowel stimulants or irritants in them and that's how they work. (Sometimes they do include ingredients to soothe and heal after the ';rough'; treatment of the irritant.) Using these products for too long, or too frequently actually has a NEGATIVE effect on your bowel health.

Medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) will help ';feed'; the cells lining the bowel and keep them healthy. Coconut oil is rich in MCFAs... provided you're digesting fats well, you could supplement your normal veggie-rich diet with a tablespoon or two of coconut oil daily for a few weeks. (Organic is best.)

Betaine and Quercitin and several herbal preparations can also help to heal the gut, if they're specifically indicatated. Talk to a qualified ND or herbologist in your area.

My mother died of colon cancer and I now need to protect my colon as colon cancer is hereditary. I have been told the most effective way to do this is eating a lot of fibre, meaning mixing bran in with cereal. This makes sure you have regular bowel movements and thats what cleanses the colon.
I'd be more inclined to go for something organically-sourced and processed. Anything which has synthetics in it, bulkers or fillers, will fertilise your toilet, rather than do the job they should.
Don't use the husks, get the powder, I have been taking psyllium powder for 28 years, and I also drink prune juice, its just good for ya!!
