A detox cleanse of juices is very good for your body, but if you wish to prevent diabetes and lose weight you will unfortunately have to do a bit more than that. You must change your diet and lifestyle in order to effect long-term weight loss.

One of the best changes you can make is to eat as many fresh vegetables or juiced vegetables as you can and to eat fresh fruits and whole grains. Cut out all ';whites';, such as white sugar, white bread, white flour, etc. and get the fats in your diet from Omega 3 and Omega 6, contained in ocean fish and flax seed oil and in olive oil. Also make sure that you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. It may sound silly, but drinking water flushes out poisons and fats in your body and is a great aid in weight loss.

Just making these above changes should make a huge difference in both your weight and your chances of avoiding diabetes.
Although you want to 'detox' it's wise to keep in mind a well balanced diet. Include fish and chicken.. Some grains...brown rice, maybe yams. Do stay away from the 'white' foods and fruits with high sugar content. You may want to look at the glycemic index diet for diabetics. High glycemic foods are ones that change into sugar quickly when digested...the 'white' foods plus many others. it will surprise you what's on that list.

Gotta give my 2 cents as an herbalist....

When starting any program like this it's important to support the liver as it's trying to help clean your body. But also to support the other 'pathways' of elimination to help clean out the system (colon, bladder, kidney, skin).

Burdock root is a great all around herb that helps support these systems and assist in elimination of toxins.

Yellow Dock, Oregon Grape Root can help in elimination through the digestive tract.

Eating antioxidant rich foods, those with bright colors (blueberries, raspberries, squash, peppers) help also. I could go into the whole role they play in helping the liver do it's detox job. But it's too long in description.

Omega-3's

Magnesium supplements

Both help in elimination
It's good that you want to detoxify your body but keep in mind that with this day and age it will be short lived (pollution is everywhere as well as foods with additives/pesticides)

When you are doing your cleansing, it would be best to eat organic for the time being.

You could also try working out with multiple of layers so you can sweat more (unless you have access to a sauna)

I've actually got a few good tips from there on this matter,

Good luck and keep it safe!
Detoxing means pretty much nothing in reality.

Just stop eating junk foods and start eating fruits/veggies/etc.

Most detoxing and cleansing (multiple day fasts while drinking only lemonade or w/e) are pretty bad for you.
